Clean Energy

HGA has been working on clean energy sector development for over 15 years. Our experience derives from ground-level, greenfield development efforts, trailblazing in the emerging markets of Asia.  We have originated, structured, contracted and sought capital for projects in wind, solar and biomass power generation. We have worked on carbon accounting within projects and amongst portfolios, including developing a new UNFCCC carbon methodology. We have experience creating the modeling necessary to appropriately project energy production and carbon reductions from inherently variable sources.

The tabs below provide a sampling of clean energy project work completed.

Clean Energy Experience

90 MW integrated reforestation and renewable power project, Nakhonratchasima Province, Thailand.  Led commercial development for a closed-loop, carbon neutral, dendro-thermal energy project, encompassing 40,000 hectares of sustainable, biodiverse plantation-based reforestation using fast-growth tree species.  Under a new CDM methodology we developed for the project, 330,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year would be avoided and would sequester 2.25 million tonnes of carbon in standing timber. Developed contract documentation and led negotiations with multiple Thai ministries, featuring an ambitious public-private partnership with the Government of Thailand covering contract plantation farming on public lands.  Responsible for financial advisory activities for raising equity and debt capital, supported by robust financial modeling, information memoranda, marketing road shows, and negotiations.
